Danakil Depression--3 days 2 nights

Day 1: Fly from Addis Ababa to Mekele then drive to Hamedella 

We have a busy day of driving and procuring permits as well as a visit to the Afar desert salt flats to witness the traditional extraction process. Drive to Dallol to explore Assale salt lake area and the desert mineral pools. We also will have the chance to see the camel caravans cross the Dallol Depression. Camp at Hamedella

Day 2:  We cross the desert heading towards Erta Ale taking a break at Dodom which is the base of the volcano crater.  Camp at Erta Ale

Day 3:  Drive from Erta Ale to Mekele fly back to Addis Ababa

Before our drive we take a pre-sunrise hike back up Erta Ale for last photos and moments at one of only six permanent lava pools on earth.
